Romans 3:20 (NIV) Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.

This is great dilemma, isn’t it?  We need to keep the law, but keeping the law (i.e. being a good person), will not get us into eternal life ( i.e. heaven).  So, keeping the law serves no purpose.  Or does it?  Paul tells us the law is to help us see how destitute we really are.  So, without the law, everyone does as they see fit (i.e. anarchy?).  Without the law, Paul says, "there is no transgression."  In other words, there is no right, and no wrong.  " It’s all good."

So, I look at the law and I see how far off the mark I am.  Then I surrender my life to Christ and He transforms me from the inside out.

As I look down the list of the 2 Great Commandments, the 10 Commandments, the Great Commission, and various other calls, commands, and directives — especially in light of the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7) — I begin to see how far my life has drifted from the life God created me to live.  After 6000+ years of genetic disintegration, societal degradation, and religious denigration — it is clear how far off the mark we have strayed.

My only hope is the restoration of the relationship with God, through Jesus Christ.

I am a sinner.  None of my efforts are getting me anywhere.  I can only submit to Jesus to do the work in me.

Lord, take my heart, for I cannot give it.  It is your property.  Mold me, shape me, raise me into the pure and holy atmosphere of your presence.  Restore my soul to be more like you — godly, righteous, moving forward, and reflecting your character of love and mercy.

Thanks God — I love you too!
