Tower of Power

29 11 2006

1 Thessalonians 4:8 (NIV) Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit.

Last night I was in one of Denver’s "Towers of Power."  I was in the board/conference room of the Brownstein, Hyatt, and Farber law offices.   The place reeked of power and influence.  The trophy case had signed memorabilia from various national
sports teams.  On the walls hung candid photos of presidents going back at least to Truman.  There were framed magazine covers extolling the power and influence of various partners in the firm.  It was elegant, understated, and secured by guards on the ground floor.  We were on the 21st floor.

And yet, we all sat around in our jeans and were very casual as we discussed skiing and ate pizza.  It is really amazing where life will take you sometimes.

Yet, now matter how powerful  we think we are — we still are not in God’s league.  It isn’t us who has influence, it is God.  And we do well if we listen to His leading and instructions.

Stay on track — seek Him, and listen.  Then "do it."

Dear Lord God.  Today, I am yours.  Lead me.
