Freedom

Scripture:
Galatians 5:1,13 (NIV)  1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

13You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature.


Observations:
It is amazing how people have come to accept something as truth – when it is nothing but a lie.  For some reason, we think that to be a follower of God, we have to be in bondage.  Nothing could be further from the truth.

In fact, to be a slave to our passions and lusts is bondage.  My addictions are a lot less forgiving than is God.  I cannot escape my lusts, my addictions, my passions, and my failures.  But God will let me be free anytime.

The thing is, that when I give myself to God, I have victory over the very things that seek to destroy my life.  The sex, drugs, and rock’n roll that held me in bondage for years – they no longer hold me.  God’s way in my life truly is freedom!


Application:
Paul says be free – but don’t use that freedom to commit even more acts of sin.  I agree.  Freedom is moving forward under God’s strength.  Utilizing His victorious power in my life.


Prayer:
I love you Lord – and I appreciate the power and freedom you’ve brought to my life, my family, and my future.  It is through you God that I seek to empower those around me.  Give me strength and power.
